Bob Herbert gave us 133 generally positive words about the Iraq election in his column this morning until he got to his first "but". I suppose that's pretty good for him. The other 635 words of the column are devoted to the usual whining, carping, distortion, and complaining about Bush.

So a historic triumph, recognized even by Jacques Chirac, causes Herbert to devote 17% of a column to praise, and 83% to criticism.

He has proven himself what we always thought he was.
