I guess some in the mainstream media are getting tired of being used and abused by people who have axes to grind, personal vendettas, enjoy their moment in the sun, like feeling important, expose us to their cathartic releases or give vent to the same dark impulses that those who spread internet viruses succumb to. The cranks are going to have fewer and fewer megaphones to use in the future (hopefully). After all (given the current environment), if people want to disclose sensitive information that may hurt them in their jobs in the Bush Administration they can probably have a lucrative career writing books, making personal appearances, writing columns for the Sunday New York Times Magazine, and going on the Soros payroll. At the very least, they can be lionized by New York Times columnist Bob Herbert.
