France behind Niger forged documents?

Italian diplomats say that France was behind forged documents which at first appeared to prove that Iraq was seeking "yellow—cake" uranium in Niger — evidence used by Britain and America to promote the case for last year's Gulf war, according to the Telegraph (U.K.)

They claim France did this to discredit the US and UK...and we should trust Kerry's view that France is an ally worth reapproaching and yielding to?
