Iraq strategy problems

By

Lastango, our friend at Daily Pundit, has a worrying tabulation of problems facing the US strategy in Iraq. I agree with him about the symptoms. But I disagree on the cure.

I worry that any overt attack on either Syria or Iran would mobilize domestic support for these tottering regimes. I would much rather have the US follow a policy of covert and overt policies to pressure and nudge them into new policies and/or new regimes. Iran is vulnerable to a revolution, while Syria can be dealt with other ways. It currently is in severe economic and strategic distress.

But Lastango's argument is worth considering.
