Mideast water shortages worsen

AFP writes a dispatch from the Middle East reminding us that it is a desert with a skyrocketing population, a recipe for worsening water shortages. The population statistics are daunting:

"In 1950, the Arab population was 75 million. In 2,000, it was 300 million, and is expected to grow to 600 million by 2025."
