Red states in the lead in education

The liberal pundits are endlessly denigrating the Republican South as the land of boobs, underfunded educational programs, creationist—acracy. Yet, this Boston Globe op—ed notes studies highlighting the importance of full—day Kindergarten for the development of our children. Oddly enough, only Red States (exception:Maryland) are progressive enough to require this program for its children. Of course, charter schools also are more popular in the South, as well. Maybe we blue—staters should LEARN from them, after all.
