Certainly, Newsweek's claim that it hadn't anticipated the consequences of its sloppy journalism would be dismissed out of hand. They didn't know of Salman Rushdie? The very folks so sophisticated and nuanced they are always telling us why that part of the world hates us, had no idea that desecration of the Koran is heresy punishable by death? C'mon..
