Team mascots: Jews

By

Dennis Prager has argued in response to critics of college sports teams with Indian names or mascots, that he would be proud to support a team called the  Fighting Jews at some university. In the Netherlands, there now is a "Jews" team to root for, with an enthusiastic and overwhelmingly non—Jewish fan base.

Regrettably, fans of the team's opponents have figured out the ugliest ways to respond. It is worth noting, that there is scant evidence that any fans of teams in the US which competed against teams with Indian names or mascots ever took the same course. We are either more civilized,  or more respectful of minorities than our European cousins, or both. And as argued earlier, the whole Indian name controversy is a big hullabaloo about nothing.
