I was amused last week when my community newspaper contained remarks from my Congressman Heath Shuler about how extremely hard he been working to solve the nation's problems when compared to the corrupt Republican Congress in 2005. The quip that came to mind was that if Shuler desires a political career longer than his career as an NFL quarterback, he needs to stop confusing passing attempts with completions.  Shuler's talking point, which apparently went unchallenged by the local press, is based almost solely on the total number of days Congress has been in full session under the new work rules imposed by Ried and Pelosi, which I have blogged about before.  The obsession with hours punched on the Congressional time clock over innovative legislation speaks volumes about the cynical nature of the Democrat leadership as it awaits the Democrat in the White House it expects will arrive in 2008.
