One growth industry in this recession
Despite a dearth of positive results from the Obama Stimulus Package and its focus on shovel ready projects there is at least one industry demonstrating growth in the midst of the Dem-pression; at least in B.O.'s home state of Illinois, anyway.
That would be the abortion industry. The St. Louis Globe-Democrat reports that:
"The number of abortions performed in 2008 increased 5 percent in Illinois to 47,717, the most in 10 years, state officials reported."
[...]
The head of Planned Parenthood for Chicago attributed the increase to difficult economic conditions:
"When couples are facing an unintended pregnancy and have to make a decision whether they want to carry pregnancy to term and have another child, they'll factor economic circumstance into the decision."

Since when do "couples" have anything to do with it? I thought the decision to abort was strictly a woman's decision.
Say what you will about the Democrat party's general lack of business acumen, those lemons on the left recognize a growth industry when they see one. Why just last June, on a largely party-line vote, the Democrats killed the Pence amendment seeking to limit the federal funding allotted to the Wal-Mart of abortions:
"Pence pointed out on Friday that Planned Parenthood is the nation's largest abortion provider and also the largest recipient of federal funding under Title X. Their latest annual report shows that the health care and abortion provider received approximately $350 million in government grants and contracts, Pence noted. In that same report, Planned Parenthood recorded more than 300,000 abortions."
If the snake-oil salesman and sleight-of-hand artists in the Obama administration and the Pelosi/Reid Congress can sneak universal federal funding for abortions into their Obama-doesn't Care Bill, the sky will be the limit for the ghouls at Planned Parenthood. Shovel-ready indeed.
