Arlen just won't retire

Just when Pennsylvania thought they were rid of him, Senator Arlen Specter is now looking to the Obama administration to give him a new job come January.  ABC News is reporting the Specter would like to remain "in public service after his Senate term ends at the end of this session."  Many voters were waiting for him to peacefully exit stage right, but yet again this man has shown that his own interests are in mind instead of that of the Pennsylvania voter.  Was the defeat of Senator Specter in the Democrat primary not a clear enough message from Pennsylvanians that we do not want him in Washington, D.C. anymore?

It is dumbfounding to wonder why the Obama administration or any other entity would ever consider hiring Senator Specter.  Let's first take a look at his record of voting.  When the Senator was a Republican he voted for the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), against card check, against health care reform and against Elena Kagan for Solicitor General.  In the spring of 2009, the Senator switched not only political parties but his principles as well.   The now Democrat Senator Specter voted against the Defense of Marriage Act, voted for card check, for health care reform and stated he will be voting for Elena Kagan for the Supreme Court. 

Arlen Specter certainly isn't in need of money as the public he "serves" will be paying the rest of his $174,000 salary for the remainder of 2010 and then footing the bill for his several digit pension complete with health benefits.  Why not add another government job and make more money, right Arlen?

It is clear that Senator Specter will always want to stay in the snake pit of D.C. and will do as he is told by the powers that be even at the ripe age of 80.  So how does it feel to sell your soul to the devil Senator?
