What would Barry do?
The book Game Change about the 2008 Presidential campaign noted that Barack Obama's campaign staffers had a nickname for him: the black Jesus.
They may not be too far off. We know Obama talked about his election leading to the end of the rise of the oceans. Now he is justifying his share the wealth agenda, and ObamaCare -- and other policies-as being motivated by his Christian faith.
That is-he in a way is equating himself with Jesus as in "What Would Jesus Do".
Julie Page of the Washington Examiner reports on Obama's remarks at Thursday's Prayer Breakfast :
"When I talk about shared responsibility, it's because I genuinely believe that in a time when many folks are struggling and at a time when we have enormous deficits, it's hard for me to ask seniors on a fixed income or young people with student loans or middle-class families who can barely pay the bills to shoulder the burden alone," Obama said.
"But for me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus' teaching that, for unto whom much is given, much shall be required," he said
The president said his faith also guides some of his foreign policy decision, including supporting foreign aid or sending U.S. troops to Africa to target a notoriously violent rebel group.
"It's not just about strengthening alliances or promoting democratic values or projecting American leadership around the world, although it does all those things and it will make us safer and more secure," he said. "It's also about the biblical call to care for the least of these, for the poor, for those at the margins of our society; to answer the responsibility we're given in Proverbs to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute."
Page writes that it is highly unusual for politicians to talk about politics at the Prayer Breakfast. Apparently for Barack Obama there is no event that cannot be used for partisan purposes.
Barack Obama also said that he sometimes falls to his knees to pray. Do we have a photo-op of that actually happening? Can anyone imagine Barack Obama actually falling to his knees?
This is all a part of the extreme makeover of Barack Obama-a topic I covered last year. A man who rarely attended church once he won the election has been attending church much more frequently and all the news outlets are made aware of his church visits; now he says that Jesus is guiding him and that his actions and agenda are based on principles found in the Bible. Lest we forget, his wife is in on the game, too (for example, the Target shopping trip with its prearranged photographer alerted to the event). But it is disgraceful for Obama to use religion to justify his agenda.
Has the man no shame?
