The Obama imprimatur
We all are familiar with the desk plaque on President Harry Truman’s desk that read, “The Buck Stops Here.” If President Obama had a desk plaque that was representative of his approach to foreign policy, it would read “The Buck Stops There.”
The President Blames Bush for the Absence of Troops in Iraq
Absence of troops? This is the president who promised as a candidate to withdraw U.S. forces from Iraq. Yet at the White House on a Saturday morning in 2014, President Obama blamed his predecessor, George W. Bush, for the absence of American troops in Iraq.
The President Blames Military Intelligence for ISIS
On a Saturday morning in 2014, before leaving on his two-week vacation to Martha’s Vineyard, the president blamed “intelligence efforts” for not anticipating “their [ISIS’s] movement over the last several months.”
The President Blames Clinton for Syrian Debacle
President Obama’s effort to train a Syrian opposition army to fight the Islamic State has been an expensive and abysmal failure. But according to the White House (2015), Obama is not to blame. The blame belongs to those who pressed him to attempt training Syrian rebels in the first place – a group that included former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The President Blames David Cameron for Libya Disaster
The British press on Friday accused President Barack Obama of launching an unprecedented verbal attack on British prime minister David Cameron in a magazine interview. In a lengthy interview with the Atlantic, Obama blames Cameron and other European allies for shortcomings in dealing with Libya after the 2011 ouster of longtime dictator Col. Moammar Gaddafi.
Now if the president had a plaque for his domestic policy, it might well read, “The Buck Never Stops.”
