9/11 thoughts
From our faiths, our families, our friends and neighbors
We draw strength.
From our Declaration, our Constitution, our history and our heroes
We draw resolve.
From the majestic sweep of our continent, veined with rivers, spired with mountains,
Clothed in farms and fields, cities and towns
We draw perseverance.
Thus armored we face the enemy.
From a scabbard of iron will we draw our sword,
Annealed in national unity,
Glinting with dread purpose,
To be wielded until our enemy is vanquished.
