Conceding the obvious (and that's progress)

There's a piece in today's U.K. Guardian you might enjoy. It's opening line is very encouraging. "France's Socialists were in crisis yesterday..." Some of the language employed by this left wing newspaper is startling in its honesty about the reactionary natured of leftwing politics in France.

"The party, torn between a modernizing, more free market tendency and a deep—seated opposition to any dilution of the traditional tenets of Gallic socialism...."

"The French Socialist party is mainly composed of civil servants who are by nature reluctant to consider any major policy reforms...." 

Maybe we should concede the 2012 Summer Olympics to Paris just to keep them running in circles (and out of our hair) for the next seven years.
