Naming names

By

AFP and Time Magazine are reporting that the US Senate subcommittee headed by Sen. Norm Coleman will be naming names of those found to have received corrupt Oil—for—Food program allotments, essentially bribes from Saddam Hussein. Foreign embassies are being notified in advance. The naming of Russian names is waiting for President Bush to leave Russia.

The subcommittee is expected to begin releasing details this week of oil contracts with Charles Pasqua, a former French interior minister and onetime close associate of French President Jacques Chirac, according to the magazine.

Pasqua has denied any wrongdoing.

Others individuals, which Time does not name, include a former senior aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
