One of the maxims attributed to Napoleon is “Never interfere with the enemy when he is in the process of destroying himself.” With Leftists across America protesting Qasem Soleimani’s death, now is the time for Republicans to stay out of their way. Briefly, Soleimani was a mass murderer. Having gotten his start killing Kurds in Iran, over the years he ranged around the Middle East, and parts of Asia and Africa, where he slaughtered American troops in the thousands and Syrian, Iraqi, and African civilians in the hundreds of thousands. He also contributed to the world opioid crisis because he financed Iran’s regime by selling Afghani opiates. As Andrew McCarthy explains, Soleimani was a legitimate military target: When there are forcible threats to the United States, the president has not merely the power but the obligation to repel them.
